Business Computing, 26 June 2004 - As the deadline for the implementation of EMV standard on smartcard looms closer, financial
institutions can take the opportunity to upload innovative and improved services to win over customers.
EMV is a smartcard standard developed by Europay-MasterCard-Visa which specifies that all debit and credit payment card be
converted to smartcards rather than magnetic stripe cards.
In the migration process, the smartcards can be uploaded with varied applications. These applications include loyalty program, discounts, promotions and electronic coupons,
says CASSIS International's chief executive officer Chua Thian Yee.
The smartcard offers an avenue that financial institutions can bank on to capture larger market share, Chua says. CASSIS provides intelligent business process outsourcing,
consulting services and relationship brokering services to card issuers, device issuers and service providers.
The Company builds application environments and solutions for its clients to register and process smartcards and other chip-enabled portable devices so that
cardholders and users can dynamically and securely access multiple applications offered by service providers.
Working with leading card and device issuers, payment associations and service providers, Chua says CASSIS enables it clients to exploit the multi-application platform, helping
them in the creation of new revenue streams, growing transaction volume and customer acquisition and retention.
The Company is part of Visa International and MasterCard International for the provision of EMV project services to their members. Largely involved in the mobile telecommunications
and financial sectors, CASSIS helps manage critical customer data and information for its clients.
"We build application environments for our clients to register and process smartcards and other chip-enabled
portable devices," says Chua. The Company, he adds, works with leading card issuers, helping them focus on the right issues in determining their smartcard objectives.
"Our team of consultants will first talk with our customers to understand their requirements before generating the business case, defining user requirements and
establishing the project timeline and deliverables."
